Job Summary
The Tool Room Leader is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the tool room operations within the injection molding facility. This role plays a critical role in maintaining, servicing and optimizing molds used in the production of plastic parts, ensuring they meet quality and production requirements. The Tool room Supervisor plays a pivotal role in ensuring the availability, quality, and performance of molds crucial to the production of plastic parts. This position requires a blend of technical expertise, leadership skills, and a dedication to maintaining high standards of quality and safety in the injection molding process.
Responsibilities

Build, lead, mentor, and manage a team of skilled toolmakers, machinists, and technicians

Foster a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement within the toolroom

Schedule and prioritize mold maintenance, repair, and fabrication tasks to meet production demands

Oversee the setup and operation of a variety of precision machining equipment, including CNC machines, lathes, milling machines, and grinders

Monitor and maintain the quality of work performed in the toolroom, ensuring molds conform to design specifications and quality standards

Maintain an organized inventory of toolroom materials, spare parts, and tooling components

Efficiently manage and order necessary supplies and materials to support toolroom activities

Keep accurate records of mold maintenance, repair, and modification activities

Generate reports detailing toolroom performance, including efficiency, downtime, and tool lifespan

Identify opportunities for process optimization and cost reduction within the toolroom

Collaborate with engineering and production teams to implement design changes that enhance mold performance and longevity

Plan and coordinate training programs for toolroom staff to enhance their skills and keep them updated on industry best practices

Encourage a culture of continuous learning and professional development among team members

Ensure strict compliance with quality control procedures and standards across all toolroom activities

Investigate and resolve any quality-related issues that may arise during the injection molding process

Assist in the development and management of the toolroom budget, including labor and material costs

Requirements
-
High school diploma or equivalent; technical school certificate in tool and die making preferred
-
At least 5 years of experience in mold making and toolroom operations, with a focus on injection molding

Strong leadership and supervisory skills

Proficiency in operating and troubleshooting various machining equipment and tools

Knowledge of CAD/CAM software, Solid Edge and CNC programming

Exceptional problem-solving abilities and attention to detail

Strong organizational and time-management skills
