Job Description

As part of the Renaissance Human Resources team, the Employee Relations Director will provide HR mentorship and support to HR staff, leaders, and employees on employee relations topics; identify and update employee relations policies; work closely with Corporate Counsel to assure compliance with HR policies and HR-related laws, and appropriately respond to employee complaints.

As Director, Employee Relations you will: 

  • Deliver expert-level guidance to HR colleagues and Renaissance leaders on a variety of employee relations issues. 
  • Provided dotted line supervision and mentorship to People Relations team on employee relations topics. 
  • Drive scalability for the employee relations function through process improvement and technology.  
  • Develop and implement effective proactive performance management strategies and success metrics in collaboration with managers.  
  • Define and maintain internal procedures related to separation procedures, workplace investigations, and other employee relations processes, liaising with other departments and colleagues as appropriate. 
  • Identify, implement, and/or deliver performance management and other future HR compliance/employee relations training needs. Manage external HR training vendors. 
  • Work closely with HR Business Partners and legal team on employee relations issues. 
  • Draft and deliver documents related to employee separations including notification letters and separation agreements, partnering with other COEs to ensure accurate information and consistent treatment of separating employees.  
  • Conduct internal investigations. 
  • Partner with all other areas of HR that touch employee relations to ensure compliance and a cohesive service delivery experience. This includes Benefits, HRBPs, Compensation, Leadership Development, and Diversity Equity and Inclusion (ADA/FMLA, policy issues, compliance, etc.) 
  • Contribute to other HR projects and initiatives as needed. 
     

Qualifications

For this role as Director, Employee Relations, you must have: 

  • At least seven years’ Human Resources or employment law experience with an emphasis in employee relations. 
  • Demonstrable knowledge of employment laws, including Title VII, the Americans with Disabilities Act, Family Medical Leave Act, and Fair Labor Standards Act.  
  • Expertise of performance management strategies, workplace investigations, and other HR practices and procedures. 
  • Ability to exercise judgment and discretion in handling confidential information and situations. 
  • Honed critical reasoning and problem-solving skills with a focus on conflict resolution. 
  • Proven communication skills and ability to establish relationships. 

Preferred: 

  • J.D. or legal background is strongly preferred. 
  • Experience managing HR employees in an agile/matrix environment.

Salary Range: $109,500 to $150,550  This range is based on national market data and may vary by location.
