Senior Manager, Product Communications
What you will do

In this vital role Amgen is seeking a passionate and strategic Senior Manager to lead thought leadership and program integration efforts for its rare disease initiatives, with a primary focus on expanding and evolving the #RAREis platform. This individual will be responsible for amplifying Amgen’s leadership in rare diseases through content, partnerships, and engagement strategies that drive meaningful impact across internal teams, external stakeholders, and patient communities.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee and evolve #RAREis platform to become the central hub for rare disease community and collaboration.
Develop and execute coordinated thought leadership strategies to elevate Amgen’s visibility and credibility in the rare disease space through the #RAREis program, including identifying and securing speaking engagements, media opportunities, leading white paper development and collaborating with leaders in rare disease.
Drive internal alignment and engagement within the U.S. rare disease business, including incorporating relationships through initiatives like the #RAREis scholarship and #RAREis Global Advocate Grant.
Oversee the operations of the #RAREis platforms (including Facebook, Instagram, Website/Blog), coordinating with regulatory and compliance teams as needed to ensure timely, relevant content, community engagement, and alignment with business and broader Amgen strategies.
Help empower those living with rare disease to advocate for optimal care, policies and support of the diagnosis journey.
Develop and execute Rare Disease Day campaign plans for Amgen, including global toolkits, U.S. brand integration, and opportunities for cross-functional collaboration and visibility.
Expand external engagement by cultivating relationships to further rare disease visibility, awareness and drive sustainability and growth of key #RAREis programs.
Establish and lead participation plans for rare disease business unit senior leadership and R&D teams in advocacy and Government Affairs events, ensuring alignment and visibility across priority initiatives.
Collaborate with brand teams to identify and activate opportunities to feature disease education and therapeutic area patient narratives in partnership with #RAREis and marketing/ awareness campaigns.
Partner with global Amgen teams to share learnings, knowledge and opportunities that can help create connections for rare disease communities and a shared Amgen narrative on the work around the world.
What we expect of you

Basic Qualifications:
Doctorate degree and 2 years of communications/public relations experience
Or
Master’s degree and 4 years of communications/public relations experience
Or
Bachelor’s degree and 6 years of communications/public relations experience
Or
Associate’s degree and 10 years of communications/public relations experience
Or
High school diploma / GED and 12 years of communications/public relations experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Demonstrated success in leading integrated campaigns with internal and external stakeholders.
Experience working in rare disease or patient advocacy settings.
Strong project management skills with the ability to prioritize and execut
