Role Introduction / Overview
The Strategic Ledger Program has been established under the wider Citi Finance Transformation. The program strategy is to adopt and implement global standard Oracle SaaS/Cloud based accounting and ledger platform (the “strategic ledger”). The outcome will be a robust global process, governance, and controls to ensure consistent and materially accurate, complete, and timely ledger data and results.
The Strategic Ledger Program Requirements Lead will be responsible for industrialising and standardising the requirements gathering process across all Discovery teams. They will be the gate keeper for the Requirements Traceability Matrix (RTM), any localizations required, and ensuring that there is traceability across requirements, build and testing. This a Senior VP level position in Citi.
Business / Team Overview
The Discovery team within the Strategic Ledger Program plays a pivotal part in ensuring all scoping hypothesis to achieve a target state are thoroughly explored. There are 9 workstreams performing discovery work across 3 pillars, accounting, data and technology. At the end of discovery these workstreams would have produced a number of artifacts that will enable senior leaders to decide on scope and timeline for execution. The Strategic Ledger Program Requirements Lead will be gathering requirements across the 3 pillars, obtain relevant sign offs before handing those over to the technology teams for design and build. The scope of the program includes:
- Centralize and standardize accounting into global accounting hubs and sub-ledgers
- Implement a standard sub ledger and general ledger for the firm Replace Citi’s current
- Operating and Reporting ledgers, including those embedded in bank-in-a-box platforms such as Flexcube
- Automate and streamline accounting and ledger processes and controls
- Address source data quality issues impacting ledgers in partnership with enterprise-wide data priorities
- Align contractual and instrument level balances and positions with financial balances
Some of the key responsibilities in the role:
- Extract relevant requirements form the previous RTM and standardize
- Partner with workstream leads to agree requirements gathering approach and establish timelines
- Adopt existing program governance and tools to lead the requirements gathering process, and sign offs
- Management of the RTM and requirements documents for future discovery projects in NAM, APAC and LATAM
- Partnership with different finance functions to ensure all requirements are clear and agreed
- Support Strategic planning and execution of future releases
- Build strong relationships with Program Office Leaders, Program Sponsors and Technology Leaders
- Participate in engagement with Internal Audit
- Ensure adherence to Citi Policies and Procedures
- Ensure consistency of deliverables and artifacts required to support requirements across all workstreams
What knowledge, skills and experience we’ll need from you:
Ideal candidates would have an in-depth knowledge of multi-year transformation programs, with experience of complex system migrations a plus. Ideal experience would be gained through extensive experience in a Controller, Finance Transformation or technology role at Citi or a similar institution. The expected candidate will provide both strategic and operational thought leadership and should have the ability to lead and influence a wide number of stakeholders, virtual and matrix teams at VP (Vice President), SVP (Senior Vice President) and Director level.
The ideal candidate will be highly motivated, team oriented, and a proactive problem solver. They will possess strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to synthesize and communicate complex information in a clear, concise manner to various levels of stakeholders including both end users and senior/executive leadership. They must feel comfortable navigating complex and ever-changing environments with the ability to educate and persuade senior stakeholders. They will possess the ability to drive change throughout a large, global organization.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Relevant work experience with global corporations and financial services experience gained in Banking or in an associated consulting role
- Relevant years of experience in successfully managing complex projects and programs through the full project lifecycle, from conception through rollout and ongoing support.
- Experience as a Project Manager with SaaS enabled ERP transformations (Oracle, SAP, Workday)
- Strong Program Lifecycle awareness and an understand of inputs critical for Implementation; particular focus on training, testing and post go live support
