About the team:

The Notification & Discovery team, within the Activation Organization, helps Robinhood's customers discover relevant products and features to support them on their financial journey. We help power communication with all Robinhood users across email, push, and in-app notifications. You will tackle complex challenges to help optimize user engagement and empower customers. As a Staff Software Engineer on the Notifications team, you’ll have the opportunity to shape the future of financial technology.

The preferred location for this position is in or around Robinhood's offices in Menlo Park, CA or Seattle, WA or New York City, NY with in-office work capabilities.

What you’ll do day-to-day:

• Set up and drive technical directions of the project while mentoring and up-leveling junior engineers on the team

• Design large-scale systems within the team, making the right tradeoffs for risk and long-term maintainability

• Lead organization-wide collaboration for the team

• Build new products and features from scratch

• Build and iterate on our platform to support all customer communications including transaction emails, promotions, and push notifications

What we’re looking for:

• Experience architecting and designing large scale distributed systems

• Experience leading cross functional teams of 5 or more engineers to build products and features producing business-wide impact

• 8+ years of full time backend engineering experience

Bonus points:

• Experience on a notifications team

• Experience building out notification infrastructure

• Experience on a growth or recommendations team

Base pay for the successful applicant will depend on a variety of job-related factors, which may include education, training, experience, location, business needs, or market demands. You can view comp zones for our US office locations in the table below. For other locations not listed, compensation can be discussed with your recruiter during the interview process.
