The Impact You’ll Make in this Role
As a Senior Product Steward you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative people around the world. The person hired for this position in the 3M Personal Safety Division (PSD) will make an impact by:
- Completing material and product compliance reviews for assigned Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) portfolios and geographies.
- Determining what global regulations apply to products
- Preparing and maintaining regulatory documentation for product life cycle management in division and corporate systems.
- Providing information for applicable notifications and reporting requirements
- Collaborating with business portfolio leader(s), application engineers, quality, manufacturing and other cross functional roles to provide regulatory/compliance input into PSD new product projects and conduct regulatory assessments for new products during the commercialization process.
- Conduct compliance reviews and work with cross functional teams on Change Management Projects
- Keeping abreast of changes in applicable standards and regulations/directives.
- Responding to customer inquiries
- Other responsibilities as assigned
Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution in chemistry, biology, environmental, toxicology, occupational health and safety, or other scientific, or engineering discipline
- Three (3) years of experience in a regulatory or product stewardship related role in a private, public, government or military environment
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
- Master's degree in chemistry, biology, environmental, occupational health and safety, or other scientific or engineering discipline
- Experience with personal protective equipment (PPE) in a regulatory or product stewardship related role
- Experience with product safety (e.g. battery and intrinsic safety) regulatory compliance
- Knowledge of regulations e.g. REACH, TSCA, RoHS, etc.
- Demonstrated communication skills, must be able to summarize and articulate technical/regulatory information to diverse audiences both verbally and in writing
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail
- Ability to work with different cultures and cross functional teams
- Problem solving skills with the ability to bring projects to a conclusion
- Experience supporting process and system improvement activities
Work location:
- Work location: This role follows an on-site working model, requiring the employee to work at least four days a week at the 3M Center in Maplewood, MN.
- Travel: May include up to 5% domestic/international
- Relocation: May be authorized
