Position Details:
A critical part of Grainger is our KeepStock inventory management service, a suite of custom enterprise tools across web, mobile, and vending device platforms that allows our field teams to lead exceptional customer experiences. We are reinventing this ecosystem to ensure an outstanding experience bringing the greatest value possible to our customers.
As the Senior UI Designer for KeepStock, you will define and deliver high-fidelity visual design compositions across mobile and touch device platforms that adhere to our evolving design system standards and ensure coded output is implemented to pixel perfection. In addition to design execution for the apps, you will help define the foundation of mobile and touch device platform design systems for the KeepStock and Grainger.com suite.
This is a unique opportunity to employ high-tech software and service design within a top-rated, well-established industrial supplier. You will report to the Senior Manager, UI Design. You can be fully remote or work in a hybrid environment out of our downtown Chicago office.
Pay:
This position is salaried and will pay between $98,940 - $152,490 with a 10% target bonus.

You Will:
- Work with Product Managers, Engineers, Architects, QA, and other members of the UX team to design experiences for customers and Grainger's internal users.
- Collaborate with other UX and UI Designers to align patterns and priorities.
- Carry out all visual design stages from concept to production deployment.
- Carry out and contribute to the KeepStock and Grainger design system, style guides, and pattern libraries.
- Collaborate with product and engineering to define and implement solutions for product direction, and execution of the visual design language.
- Present design work to the user experience team, product team, and senior leadership for review, discussion, and feedback.
- Enhance the team's knowledge of best mobile design practices.
- Partner with front-end development teams to ensure that common components implemented as intended.
- Understand technical and business constraints and scale designs for iterative release, ensuring user needs are met in each iteration.
- Evaluate current experiences and provide recommendations for improvement.
- Communicate design decisions, rationale, and direction when presenting work.
- Develop detailed documentation for design standards.
You Have:
- Formal education in Human Centered Design, Design Methods, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) or related field.
- 3-5+ years of experience in User Interface design, User Experience design, web design, web development; corporate B2B experience preferred.
- Expert understanding of Android design patterns and Apple’s human interface design guidelines.
- Work samples or portfolio that demonstrates expertise in designing mobile and touch device experiences.
- Proficiency in Figma and building reusable component libraries.
- Experience contributing to design systems.
- Experience implementing W3C accessibility design standards.
- Experience designing for complex business processes.
- Fundamental knowledge of HTML and CSS.
- Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development process.
- Work samples that show how you broke down complexity, empathized with the user, and balanced user needs, business needs, and technical considerations.
