The Department of Neurosurgery is seeking a highly motivated Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant to work as part of the interdisciplinary subspecialty team.  Primary responsibilities involve direct patient care, including evaluation and treatment of patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings.

Essential Functions

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Obtaining comprehensive history and physicals.
  • Coordinating, reviewing, and following up on diagnostic imaging, laboratory testing, and procedures.
  • Prescribing medications. 
  • Ensure continuity of patient care by coordinating communication among inpatient or outpatient Neurosurgery teams and assisting in patient education and family updates. 
  • Participate in service-related QI/PI projects, education of learners (residents, fellows, students and new employees), and cross-departmental knowledge sharing and skills training. 

Minimum Requirements, Nurse Practitioner:

Required Education:
Master’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited nursing program


Required Trainings/Certifications:
Active Ohio APRN license with prescriptive authority
Active Board Certification in appropriate nursing specialty


Required Experience:
Three (3) years nursing experience.
Additional related work experience may be required depending on specialty/sub-specialty

Required Education:
Master's Degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program


Required Trainings/Certifications:
Active Ohio Physician Assistant license with prescriptive authority
Certification as a Physician Assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants


Required Experience:
Minimum of one (1) year experience is required.
Additional related work experience may be required depending on specialty/sub-specialty.
