General Notes
This position may be required to work non-traditional hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays. This job is not suitable for remote work and is expected to work regular in-office hours. Travel is required.
Purpose
To assist the Head Coach and Associate Head Coach in the leadership and management of the Cheer, Pom and Mascot program and to achieve successful outcomes, including: regular coaching and instruction to student-athletes, administrative functions, and gameday
Responsibilities
- Assist with office functions to include purchasing, inventory of equipment and uniforms, facility reservations, travel arrangements, event planning, and correspondence related to the Texas Spirit Program and to summer camps. Assist with summer cheerleader camp functions and operations.
- Assist in the supervision of the cheerleaders, pom, and mascots during scheduled athletic events, including away games and events. Assist with the supervision of cheerleading and pom practices. Ensure the safety of all spirit program participants and camp participants. Assist with the cheerleader, pom, and mascot selection process.
- Assist with additional gameday, events, and competitions outside the supervision of cheerleaders as deemed necessary.

Proactively seek guidance when unsure or unclear of a law, rule or policy applicable to you or your department/sport program. Actively participate in assigned education and training programs. Comply with all laws, policies, rules and regulations set forth by the Board of Regents of The University of Texas System, The University of Texas at Austin, NCAA, Conference, or other governing body, including state and federal laws. Annually obtain prior written approval and report all outside activities and outside income. Report knowledge of, or reasonable cause to believe, violation(s) of state or federal laws, policies, rules, or regulations of the University, Conference, or NCAA to IA ARMCS or IA HR. Fully cooperate with any investigation by providing complete and accurate information when requested to do so by Texas Athletics and/or the NCAA and do not influence others in any way during an investigation. As an employee of the university, if you witness or receive information about sexual harassment, sexual assault, dating violence or stalking that involves a current student or employee, you have a duty to promptly report the incident to the University’s Title IX Coordinator or a Deputy Title IX Coordinator. - Other related functions as assigned. Drive a UT golf cart/vehicle/personal vehicle on and off campus.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree. Minimum three years of experience as a cheerleader or other spirit program participant at the collegiate level OR two years actual coaching of spirit groups at the high school or collegiate level. Demonstrated general management skills including computer skills, email, correspondence, scheduling, and budgets. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Professional demeanor. Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Preferred Qualifications
Minimum one-year experience with office functions to include purchasing, facility reservations, travel arrangements, scholarships, fundraising, and correspondence. Good understanding of the requirements for safety and integrity of spirit programs. Demonstrated leadership and communication skills. Demonstrated proficiency using Microsoft Office, including Outlook.
Driving Required
This job requires a class "C" operator's driver's license. The applicant selected must provide a current three year driving record
