Computational Fluid Dynamics Engineering Lead
This role will be an overall technical lead for CFD for Westinghouse helping to lead and have line of sight on new opportunities involving CFD and helping establish consistent strategy, including initiatives to look for additional opportunities to maximize effectiveness of the tool and its application in Westinghouse.
This role includes leading a team of 5-8 engineers and growing, providing guidance to less experienced engineers (to grow from current three Level 3 and 4 combined in 3 CFD skills to support advanced CFD modeling verification capability) and provide direct engineering interface with other WEC organizations and outside consultants as needed. Having a lead engineer, on the path to Fellow, to supervise and drive CFD leadership and couple with superior product and service offerings will be crucial for maintaining WEC technology leadership in advanced CFD modeling and simulation.
Role Expectations: The workload associated with this role is expected to be up to 50% management and oversight support with the remainder of the Lead Engineer duties consisting of technical oversight and/or project work. The Lead Engineer will act as a Technical Leader for offers and projects that focus on using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), further technology development of Westinghouse’s use of CFD, and CFD team management & lead responsibility. In that role he/she will be the direct interface between engineers supporting different CFD projects focusing and interfacing with the eVinci Safety Analysis manager, as well as other managers that have CFD resources.
Expected Day-to-day:

- Oversight and lead of on-going projects under the eVinci Safety Analysis group cognizance/scope
- Support resource workload planning and coordination with eVinci Safety Analysis Resource Manager and interface with other managers as needed
- Provide leadership, oversight and mentorship for those interested in learning and advancing skills and qualifications in CFD in TeamTrac
- Support Consulting and Fellow Engineers on CFD strategy initiatives to enhance the effectiveness and utilization of CFD across Westinghouse
- Identify skill needs and gaps for on-going and upcoming projects and work with Resource Manager, Consulting Engineer, and Fellow Engineers on training and IPC needs
- Leadership and coordination during preparation of proposals (work package definition, coordination of technical descriptions, input to cost, resource, and schedule decisions)
- Lead engineering teams by mentoring and coaching
- Provide first level response for project issues and concerns, including those outside of eVinci (i.e. AP300, AP1000, operating plants business)
Education / Experience:
o Proven engineering leadership as a Technical Lead Manager
