Teacher, Religion & Social Studies, Middle School (EX) (2024-2025) - Our Lady of Perpetual Help School, Ellicott City MD

The Archdiocese of Baltimore is seeking a full-time religion and social studies teacher. The teacher will  teach lessons to students in grades 6th-8th. The teacher is responsible for implementing daily standard-based lessons to support student's acquisition and application of the curriculum aligned with the standards of the Archdiocese of Baltimore.

Essential Functions

• Follow the guidelines and tenets of the Catholic Church and the curriculum of the Archdiocese of Baltimore.
• Create and implement lesson plans with clear objectives aligned with the Archdiocesan Course of Study, utilizing techniques to motivate, challenge, engage, and inspire students to think confidently and independently.
• Be responsible for the safety and active supervision of students.
• Integrate the use of technology effectively into the curriculum.
• Communicate with parents in a professional and timely manner.
• Perform duties as scheduled.
• Support the Catholic spirituality and mission of the school.
• Attend various school events such as Back to School Night, graduation, and Open House.

 

Position Qualifications

• Must be an active, practicing Catholic fully able to participate in the life of the church.
• Maryland certified or willing to pursue MD certification.
• A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree.
• Employment is contingent upon acceptable results of a state and federal fingerprint background check, completion of VIRTUS Training, and completion of all necessary paperwork.
• Support and uphold Catholic moral and social teaching and the mission of SJRCS (practicing Catholic preferred).
• Demonstrates ability to operate with a growth mindset and seek opportunities for feedback.
