About the role

Overview

The Sponsored Programs Accounting team is looking for a permanent part-time, non-benefited, Senior Accountant to work approximately 20 hours per week. Our team supports staff, faculty, and administrators across the university to help them achieve the mission of the University related to research grants and contracts.The successful applicant will participate in and assist with all areas of the post-award accounting functions.

This position will be eligible for remote work with a flexible schedule.

Responsibilities

Duties may include:• Award set-ups• Draw down of federal funds for grants, awards, financial aid, etc.• Journal entries• Reconciliations• Bill log maintenance• Accounts receivable and collections• Time and effort reporting• Award closeouts• Understand and apply federal and state regulations• Identify critical reporting deadlines and applicable terms and conditions• Ensure accuracy and timeliness in financial reporting and invoice preparation• Communication with campus community and external sponsors• Other assignments and duties as assigned

Qualifications

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or business
  • Four years of relevant experience

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of regulations regarding federal grants and contracts
  • Experience with Banner accounting system
  • Experience in higher education accounting
  • Excellent computer skills, with emphasis on Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Detail-oriented
  • Self-motivated and able to successfully complete work assignments with limited supervision

    Advertised Salary

    $24.00 per hour

    Employees work indoors and are protected from weather and/or contaminants, but not, necessarily, occasional temperature changes.  The employee is regularly required to sit and often uses repetitive hand motions.
