About the role

OBJECTIVE

Field Sales Development Specialist Objective

To assist the Sales Directors in achieving the overall sales production and profitability objectives for the company while creating an environment for our agents to succeed.  To assist in overall field management and leadership efforts.  To be an extension of the Sales Directors for the development of agent training and development programs and field production reports. To assist the Sales Directors in overall regional field leadership programs and the achievement of production objectives. To assist Sales Directors with input to Home Office staff.  To assist Home Office specialist in the areas of product and rate making by providing marketplace insights.  To assist in supporting Michigan Farm Bureau (MFB) to maximize opportunities to strengthen our partnership.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Field Sales Development Specialist Responsibilities

Assist the Sales Directors and work directly with the market research team to determine target growth opportunities across the state.

 

Assist in the development of product and pricing concepts, working with Marketing, Underwriting, and Actuarial staff to focus company efforts on profitable growth in both premium and policy counts.

 

Assist the Sales Directors in the execution of regional recruiting objectives.  Assist in developing and implementing field training systems that ensure positive agent headcount growth. 

 

Participate in refining and developing relevant production reports relating to the field.

 

Attend divisional and field centric meetings at the direction of the Sales Directors.

 

Support or participate in project planning and Home Office project team workshops.  Provide support for the review and drafting of legal contracts related to field operations and agent business needs.

 

Assist the sales director in the pursuit of profitable sales growth and account retention through sales specialist programs and FB Partners Group.  Assist in the development of marketing strategies and plans for the FBI portfolio and ultimately expand the future sales of the organization.

 

Assemble with appropriate parties the County Farm Bureau Board Insurance report and be the conduit with MFB Regional Managers for items applicable to County Leaders.

 

Establish relationships with all Home Office divisions, including key Michigan Farm Bureau Staff.  Assist with building effective communications to the Home Office from the field Force regarding their needs and concerns.  Assist in communicating the needs of the Managing Partners and agents regarding Home Office operations. Support and enforce corporate policies, especially as they apply to field force operations.

 

Champion and advocate to maximize our For-Purpose business model into the field force.  Assist Managing Partners, agents, county Farm Bureaus, and those within our marketplace in understanding, communicating, and leveraging our story.

 

Assist the Sales Directors to prepare and participate in all field events including, but not limited to; Convention, Agent Business Seminar, Multi-line Sales Council, Product Line Summits, Directors Cup, President’s Council and agent centric small group meetings. Also be the key partner to the Sales Directors for Michigan Farm Bureau’s State Annual Meeting.

 

Participate in the budget planning and expense tracking functions for the field leadership and sales teams.

 

Maintain awareness of industry developments, market conditions, and insurance marketing through participation in professional associations and continued personal professional education at the direction of the Sales Directors.

QUALIFICATIONS

Field Sales Development Specialist Qualifications

Required

Bachelor’s degree in business, communications, or related field required.

 

Minimum two years professional sales experience required.

 

Must be a licensed producer for P&C and Life, Annuity, and Health sales.

 

Must possess a valid driver license with an acceptable driving record.

 

Must be willing to pursue continuing job-related training and education, specifically CIC, CPCU or LIC.
