As the Retail Category Development Manager, you will create and share compelling stories with the Customer that provide insight to how shopper behaviors are influencing our categories. You will serve as the category expert by delivering insight-based engaging category presentations and highlighting opportunities. You will establish a solid customer relationship, based on building thought leadership. As the category expert, you'll scorecard and monitor the execution of 7Ps to ensure success in all that you do. Utilizing category analysis, shopper insights and other available analytic tools you will apply your expertise to drive solutions for Hill's and our customers.

 

What You Will Do:

 

Category Development

  • Leads Category Management partnerships by providing insights and solutions to drive the category.
  • Translate insights and trends into action, creating selling stories in order to elevate customer engagement, identify omni-growth opportunities and areas of risk.
  • Provide unbiased recommendations that are mutually beneficial to the category and Hill’s 
  • Utilize Nielsen & other available data sources to  analyze all available data sources to identify category & omni growth opportunities and build supporting business cases to influence customer decisions.
  • Lead category review process, including development of plan-o-gram recommendations and presentations, utilizing external & internal data sources aligned to Customer and Hill’s timings.

 

Knowledge & Insights

  • Develop optimal product assortment, placement & planograms for key account, incorporating new products. Use shelf management software to produce planograms and make recommendations for portfolio. 
  • Lead customer category review process, leveraging category analysis, competitive insights and customer business performance to accelerate omni growth and Hill’s consumption for key account.
  • Create, maintain and publish category performance scorecards, including analysis of external and internal sales & profitability data to identify opportunities, gaps, best practices, competitive strategy, and product placement execution.

 

Leadership

  • Build relationships across CDO, Marketing, Insights/Analytics & key customer contacts to influence, collaborate and partner in the spirit of driving mutually beneficial growth, aligning priorities, driving effective execution, optimizing resources and solving problems.
  • Collaborate with Hill’s Retail Category Development team to ensure team is informed of & working with the most up-to-date brand/category details.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • BS/BA degree or higher
  • 7+ years of related CPG (Consumer Packaged Goods) experience

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 4+ years Category Management, Insights or Business Analytics experience
