About the role

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Controls System Programmer to join our dynamic Engineering and Controls team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software development, and HMI development with experience in creating and maintaining applications that enhance overall system processes. This role requires expertise in various programming languages, an understanding of manufacturing and assembly processes, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive technological advancements.

 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and implement software solutions for process systems as they relate to the overall IMC system design and intent.
  • Integrate software applications with existing manufacturing systems (e.g., SCADA, MES, PLCs) to streamline operations and ensure seamless data flow.
  • Provide technical support for IMC software applications and resolve issues related to performance, functionality, and compatibility.
  • Develop and maintain I/O and Communication databases for data management systems to support manufacturing operations, including data collection, analysis, and reporting.
  • Analyze and identify areas for process improvement within controls system operations and propose technological solutions to enhance efficiency and productivity.
  • Gather and maintain comprehensive documentation for all systems software applications, including user manuals, system specifications, and technical guides.
  • Work closely with manufacturing engineering team members, IT specialists, and other stakeholders to understand requirements, gather feedback, and implement solutions that align with project objectives.
  • Manage programming and HMI applications for projects from inception to deployment, including planning, execution, and post-implementation review.
  • Ensure that software solutions adhere to industry standards, regulatory requirements, and security protocols.
  • Interface with all system integrators to ensure all datapoints are captured and accessible in the primary system controller.
  • Work with other Controls Engineers to develop standard programming and HMI development for IMC products while maintaining software needed to perform these functions.
  • Work with QA/QC to develop test scripts for all controls system functions.
  • Work with project team to develop controls system S.O.O. for overall system for IMC supplied equipment. Gather and review all vendor S.O.O. documents to ensure all system requirements.
  • Review P&ID’s to ensure all equipment is accounted for in the system program.

 

Professional Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or 8+ years in a related field. Advanced degrees or certifications are a plus.
  • Proven experience as a programmer or software developer, preferably in the manufacturing or modular building industry or a related field.
  • Experience with Building Management Systems is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, C++, or C# is a plus.
  • Familiarity with SQL and database management systems.
  • Experience with industrial automation technologies (e.g., PLCs, SCADA systems).
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex software and programming issues.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Understanding of manufacturing and assembly processes and workflows.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity principles and practices is desirable.
  • Ability to read P&ID’s to ensure all control points and sequences are accounted for in the S.O.O..
