Position Summary

Position handles the purchasing/accounting function that handles various department funds (operating funds/non-carry forward, projects, and gifts), expense reports, invoices, orders, and accounting documentation.

Job Description

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• Processes/approves documents such as expense reports, purchase orders, ISD’s, and supplier invoices in Workday. 
• Gains knowledge and expertise in the Workday system and the department financial structure to make decisions on expense processing.
• Confirms expenses align with University and Department policies.
• Assists with work orders, pagers, keys, lab coats, telephones.
• Assists in tracking/reporting actual expenses for various groups in the department.
• Processes accounting entries (budget & acctg adjustments/journal entries).
• Assists and serves as backup to Analysts and Accounting Assistants to promote cross coverage on team and assist with build-up in others’ division workloads.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting or a related field.
• Working knowledge of standard finance and accounting practices, varied finance related software applications, and statistical/budget analytical methods. 
• Excellent organizational skills a must. 
• Ability to perform well under pressure in a fast-paced office environment, maintaining a temperament for consistently accurate work. 
• Strong ability to multi-task. 
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, be organized, self-motivated, resourceful, and have the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.

Required Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent high school certification, with some college-level accounting coursework; and five years’ experience in accounting/bookkeeping. Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting or a related field and one to three years’ experience in accounting/bookkeeping may substitute.

Salary Range

$20.76 - $32.21 / Hourly

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
