By bringing together people that use their passion for purposeful innovation, at Lockheed Martin we keep people safe and solve the world's most complex challenges. Our people are some of the greatest minds in the industry and truly make Lockheed Martin a great place to work. With our employees as our priority, we provide diverse career opportunities designed to propel development and boost agility. Our flexible schedules, competitive pay, and comprehensive benefits enable our employees to live a healthy, fulfilling life at and outside of work. At Lockheed Martin, we place an emphasis on empowering our employees by fostering innovation, integrity, and exemplifying the epitome of corporate responsibility. Your Mission is Ours.
Lockheed Martin is seeking a Cybersecurity Engineering intern to join the Digital Innovation and Enablement team. You will work side‑by‑side with senior security engineers to protect our software supply chain, embed security controls into the development lifecycle, and support the OneLM X digital‑transformation effort. This internship offers practical experience in secure software development, DevSecOps, threat modeling, and AI‑assisted security operations.
What You’ll Do
Integrate security into Agile/DevOps pipelines (static analysis, dependency scanning, secret detection).
Conduct code reviews focused on secure‑coding practices and provide remediation guidance.
Assist in building security‑focused APIs and micro‑services that enforce authentication, authorization, and data‑privacy controls.
Participate in threat modeling and risk assessments for new features and existing applications.
Help develop and execute penetration‑test scripts or automated vulnerability scans on cloud and container environments.
Support incident‑response activities (log analysis, forensic data collection) under supervision.
Prepare concise status briefings or demo videos that communicate findings and remediation plans to technical and non‑technical audiences.
Travel to a Lockheed Martin site occasionally (as needed) and operate effectively in a virtual team setting.
Basic Qualifications
• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program (Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Assurance, or related field).
• Experience with at least one programming language (Java, Python, JavaScript, C#, etc.) and an understanding of secure coding principles.
• Exposure to vulnerability management tools (Nessus, Qualys, OpenVAS) or penetration‑testing frameworks (Metasploit, Burp Suite).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Desired skills
• Hands‑on experience with cloud security (AWS/Azure/GCP IAM, security groups, container security).
• Interest in emerging security technologies and AI‑driven defenses.
• Experience with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps) and integrating security scanners (Snyk, SonarQube, Trivy).
• Basic knowledge of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, VPN, firewalls).
• Familiarity with Agile development frameworks (Scrum, Kanban).
• Knowledge of AI/ML security concepts (e.g., prompt engineering for AI model hardening, anomaly detection).
• Ability to work collaboratively in a paired‑programming or peer‑review environment.
