Licensed Clinical Social Worker Residential Life

The Licensed Clinical Social Worker will serve as a member of the Student Success Team  and Residential Team and report to the Director of Student Success. The clinical social worker will provide assessment, prevention, and intervention services for students, including individual and group counseling and therapy for students facing social, emotional, behavioral, and mental health challenges. The clinical social worker will also educate staff, students, and families on how to manage ongoing challenges and provide services to help students make positive choices and become successful.

Hours for the clinical social worker are : Sundays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 3-11pm; Mondays, Wednesdays from 2-10pm.

 

Job Responsibilities Include:

 

  • Provide evidence-based education, behavior, and mental health services.
  • Promote a residential climate and culture conducive to student learning and teaching excellence.
  • Maximize access to school-based and community based resources.
  • Provide school social work based mental health services via individual and group counseling and therapy to students in need.
  • Provide prevention and intervention services that align with Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS).
  • Help staff establish Tier 1 strategies in residential settings.
  • Serve as a lead liaison between the student, home, school, private counseling facilities and community resources such as social services, court services, and family service agencies.
  • Establish a comprehensive assessment to ensure student and family needs are met.
  • Gather and maintains background information on the student’s history by conducting new student intakes, wellness surveys, in class/residential behavioral observations, making home visits, conducting interviews, obtaining staff feedback, and reviewing social/emotional, family history and behavior records. 
  • Provide services which will include: screening for Mental Health/ Substance Abuse and for trauma; crisis assessment; clinical interventions; psycho-educational groups; and along with training and consultation for parents, staff, and administrators.
  • Provide guidance for students and families that address the student’s behavior and family issues that impact school performance and social and emotional development.
  • Coordinate meetings with families.
  • Provide training to school professionals, caregivers, and other stakeholders to increase mental health awareness.
  • Document all services including screenings, assessments and consultations in appropriate databases.
  • Conduct regular needs-assessments of current and emerging student and family needs.
  • Collaborate with team members to create campus wide events and activities to promote social emotional learning and mental health awareness.
  • Collaborate with the other members of the Student Success Team, especially the academic day social worker.
