ABOUT THE JOB
The ACLU seeks a full-time position of Specialist in the Development Data & Systems team. This position is assigned to the ACLU National Office located in New York, NY. This is a hybrid role that has in-office requirements of two (2) days per week or eight (8) days per month.

Reporting to Deputy Director of Donor Data, the Specialist is a member of the Development Data & Systems team that is comprised of four sub-units; Donor Data, Campaign Services, Business Analysis, and Knowledge, Support, and Training. The Specialist ensures the accurate and timely processing of donor data and is also responsible for supporting testing needs for ongoing system development for the ACLU’s suite of constituent management systems and data infrastructure.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop in-depth understanding of donor data processing procedural flows and Salesforce functionality including batch upload process
- Administer and ensure the accurate and timely processing of all ACLU donor data

- Clean and manipulate raw data into standard format
- Validate data to reduce duplicate record creations
- Communicate with vendors to resolve payment and file-related issues
- Identify and problem solve processing exceptions
- Merge accounts and adjust records
- Design queries and reports for reconciliation
- Partner in evaluating and identifying opportunities to improve and expand data processing procedures to affiliates
- Understand ACLU policies and procedures and collaborate with colleagues in PTEC, RODR, Finance, Development, and Legal to ensure that uploads meets organization protocols
- Proactively detect, analyze system or data concerns and work closely with Digital, Product & Technology and Analytics team to troubleshoot and resolve issues
- Provide support with user acceptance testing by creating schema for data mapping and analysis
- Assist in the definition, documentation, and maintenance of internal support procedures
- Engage in special projects and other duties as assigned

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience working in nonprofit organizations a plus
- Experience with Salesforce.com
- Experience with Salesforce-related data management tools such as Data Loader, demandTools, and/or Apsona
- Experienced data processor who enjoys working with large data and spreadsheets
- Possesses strong analytical skills to make logical deductions from presented data
- Comfortable writing basic formulas and simple SQL query commands
- Understands basic concepts of relational databases
- Has knowledge of basic finance or accounting
- Has knowledge of basic fundraising practices
- Possesses problem solving skills and inherent decision-making ability as well as the ability to take initiative, be assertive and manage multiple streams of work
- Extremely detail-oriented and able to work productively and flexibly in a high volume and fast paced environment
- Able to work independently and as part of a team, while fostering collaboration and peer support
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access
- Able to communicate effectively with all levels of staff and end users
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
