What you'll do...

Join Walmart Global Tech as a Senior Software Engineer to build and enhance scalable systems that power seamless digital experiences for millions of customers worldwide. You will work across systems and domains, contributing to the design and development of critical backend services supporting Walmarts digital ecosystem, from checkout and fulfillment to user engagement journeys.

About Team:
Focusing on customer, associate and business needs, this team works with Walmart International, which includes more than 5,200 retail units, operating in 23 countries such as Canada, Central America, Chile, China, India, Mexico and South Africa to name a few.

What You'll Do:

• Architect, design, and develop scalable backend services and APIs to support complex digital experiences.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams across domains, including product, frontend, data, and UX teams, to design solutions that enhance the customer journey.
• Lead technical initiatives, including solution architecture, performance tuning, and system scalability enhancements.
• Optimize application performance and ensure high code quality.
• Mentor junior engineers and drive knowledge sharing within the team.
• Advocate for best practices in services architecture, security, and testing.
• Implement and maintain secure, high-performance, and fault-tolerant distributed systems.
• Develop reusable frameworks and components for backend service integrations.
• Maintain high code quality through automated testing, continuous integration, and code reviews.
• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues across complex services.
• Build scalable and reliable systems that handle large volumes of traffic and data.
• Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code while following engineering best practices.
• Debug and troubleshoot issues in distributed systems across environments.
• Contribute to performance optimization, security improvements, and system resilience.
• Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to peers.

What you'll bring:

• 6 to 9 years of total experience of which 5+ years in Frontend engineering platform development.
• 5+ years of experience in Front end technologies, Distributed systems and large-scale application development and design.
• Experience with a containerization technology and Microservice
• Well versed in CI/CD, DevOps practices, and monitoring tools..
• Strong adherence to SLDC process and Scrum/agile methodologies

Technical Skills

Frontend Development

• JavaScript, TypeScript Strong knowledge of modern JavaScript frameworks (React, Angular)
• HTML, CSS, SCSS Deep understanding of responsive and accessible design
• State Management Redux, Context API, Zustand, MobX
• Performance Optimization Lazy loading, code splitting, caching strategies
• Component-driven Architecture Reusable, scalable UI components

Backend Development

• Node.js, Express, NestJS Server-side development
• RESTful APIs ; GraphQL Designing scalable APIs
• Authentication ; Security OAuth, JWT, session management, role-based access control (RBAC)
• Database Management SQL (PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server), NoSQL (MongoDB, Firebase)
