Overview
The Director of Outpatient Nursing Services & School-Based Programs assumes authority, responsibility, and accountability for the delivery of nursing services in the outpatient department and school-based programs. This position leads outpatient nursing staff in delivering excellent care to patients. The incumbent functions as a role model and mentor and is responsible for promoting a collaborative atmosphere between nurses, nursing support staff, providers, and personnel of other disciplines.

This position is 40 hours per week, working Monday through Friday, daytime hours.

Responsibilities
1. Directs nursing services in all outpatient and educational programs.
2. Establishes and evaluates objectives for the outpatient department that are realistic, measurable, and aligned with the Nursing Department’s goals and objectives.
3. Develops, maintains, and implements nursing policies and procedures that conform to standards of nursing practice, Institute philosophy, and operational policies while maintaining compliance with state and federal laws and regulations, as well as regulatory agencies.
4. Communicates and interprets policies and procedures to nursing staff. Monitors outpatient nursing staff practices, implementation of, and compliance with policies and procedures.
5. Responsible for all supervisory functions, including recruitment, hiring, progressive discipline, performance appraisals, other forms of performance management, and terminations if needed. Provides oversight in determining compensation adjustments.
6. Ensures delivery of quality of nursing care and nursing supervision as evidenced by adequate nursing services and coverage in all outpatient sites and education programs.
7. Is accountable for compliance related to nursing licensure, certified nursing assistant certification, phlebotomy certification, cardio-pulmonary certification, and nursing and Institute competencies.
8. Participate in the recruitment and selection of nursing personnel and ensure sufficient staff are hired and properly oriented.
9. Oversees staff development and delivery of in-service education to equip nursing staff with sufficient knowledge and skills to provide quality nursing care.
10. Coordinates and/or develops ongoing performance improvement (PI) activities for outpatient nursing services to monitor nursing compliance with standards and regulatory requirements.
11. Participates in budget development in collaboration with the Assistant Vice President of Nursing/ACNO for the outpatient
