About the role

Leading the future in luxury electric and mobility At Lucid, we set out to introduce the most captivating, luxury electric vehicles that elevate the human experience and transcend the perceived limitations of space, performance, and intelligence. Vehicles that are intuitive, liberating, and designed for the future of mobility.   We plan to lead in this new era of luxury electric by returning to the fundamentals of great design – where every decision we make is in service of the individual and environment. Because when you are no longer bound by convention, you are free to define your own experience.   Come work alongside some of the most accomplished minds in the industry. Beyond providing competitive salaries, we’re providing a community for innovators who want to make an immediate and significant impact. If you are driven to create a better, more sustainable future, then this is the right place for you.

We are currently seeking an Intern for the Interior Components and Systems team. This position requires a lively, enthusiastic individual keen to learn lots and work hard on interior cockpit systems (instrument panel, center console, door panels), injection molded parts, castings, 3D prints and a whole lot more to do to the interior of vehicles. Our ideal candidate exhibits a can-do attitude and approaches his or her work with vigor and determination. Candidates will be expected to demonstrate excellence in their respective fields, to possess the ability to learn quickly and to strive for perfection within a fast-paced environment.

Role/ Responsibilities:

  • Own one or more technical projects related to interior components within instrument panel, doors, or center console.
  • Apply data-driven decision making and teamwork to solve complex problems and questions.
  • Design, create and test with prototype parts including 3D prints to improve existing designs and validate their own concepts.
  • Support other engineers on the team in data collection and analysis, component/system design, project management and logistics, physical part testing and validation, and hands-on prototyping
  • Ask questions, absorb learning, and make the most of this opportunity to grow your skills and knowledge - we're here to help you as much as you're here to help us!
  • You will assist in a range of supporting duties to broaden your exposure (BOM, PLM and change management), as well as helping root cause physical issues and helping to design solutions using Catia 3DX

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Basic understanding of how to make plastic and metal parts: injection molding tools, 3D-printing prototypes, die castings, materials and resins, sheet metal manufacturing and other fabrication processes.
  • A mechanically oriented mindset, thinking about how things work, how they are made, how they are assembled and how they benefit from design.
  • Hands-on experience making or fixing parts to improve how they work, how much they cost or how easy they are to make.
  • Great technical communication skills in both thought process, design details and analysis. A successful candidate will speak with external suppliers and make presentations for internal topics to name a few of their key tasks.
  • Please note this is a Fall 2025 Co-Op, preferably for an extended term (6-12 months)

Nice to Have:

  • Design experience creating a product in CAD and for some form of the manufacturing method. Coursework or extracurricular experience in Mechanical Design, Mechatronics projects, and/or Injection molding for bonus points.
  • Experience in 3D design (e.g. CATIA, Solidworks, AutoCAD, Fusion). DIY design portfolio of scholastic and extracurricular projects.
  • Related work experience in a previous engineering internship in product design.

Education:

  • Field(s) of study: Mechanical Engineering, Product Engineering, Product Design, Mechatronics Engineering, Plastics/Composite Engineering, or related fields.
  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree program at an accredited university.
  • Proof of enrollment in current or into next program (MS)
