Job Description

NBCUniversal is seeking a dynamic, mature, experienced Disaster Preparedness professional to serve as the Director for Universal Studio’s Disaster Preparedness program.  The ideal individual will be able to communicate to stakeholders at all levels inspiring confidence in the Studio’s disaster preparedness program. The successful applicant will need to demonstrate mature judgement, outstanding reasoning skills and a dedication to excellence while also ensuring the safety of our employees, contractors, vendors, customers and guests.

Responsibilities:

  • Reporting to the Vice President, Emergency Services, is responsible for coordinating the Studio’s Disaster Response and Emergency Response, including Facility and Floor Warden, Disaster Response Team, Emergency Operations Center, Incident Command Unit, and additional employee awareness and educational programs.
  • Foster professional relationships with off-lot partners to include LA Co Fire, LASD, LAFD, LAPD and Cal OES
  • Maintains the Studio’s Emergency Operation Plan
  • Maintains the Studio’s Map Book
  • Supervises the Emergency Services Training Coordinator
  • Recruits employee volunteers to ensure adequate numbers of Floor Wardens, Facility Wardens, and Team members are maintained.
  • Develops and conducts quarterly Table Top and Functional Exercises for management, security and external partners
  • Develops, coordinates and conducts bi-annual exercise of the Studio Action Plan
  • Develops, coordinates and conducts annual Studio Disaster Exercise
  • Develops, communicates, supervises and conducts monthly training classes.
  • Supervises monthly radio drills, Disaster Response Team Training, annual full-scale exercises, quarterly Emergency Operations Center (EOC) and Incident Command Unit (ICU) drills.
  • Plans, organizes, and conducts Certified Emergency Response Team (CERT) training.
  • Assists with the maintenance and publication of maps, manuals, directories, and plans.
  • Responsible for the company’s EOC and ICU.
  • Responsible for coordinating activities and additional assignments within the EOC during an emergency.
  • Responsible for maintaining inventory control and inspection records for emergency preparedness supplies, assigned team member equipment, radios, and equipment.
  • Primary trainer for the Studio’s Civilian Emergency Response Training (CERT) program

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalency required.
  • 5+ years experience in Disaster/Emergency Management.
  • Current Certified Emergency Manger or able to attain within 2 years
  • Required to be available at any time to respond to emergencies at the Studio or associated locations.  Willingness to work possible overtime and weekends
  • Willing to travel between the Universal City, Glendale and Beverly Hills locations
  • Homeland Security Exercise Evaluation Program certification
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Customer service oriented

Desired:

  • Proven ability to handle heavy workload and meet deadlines.
  • Possess excellent computer skills including, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, PageMaker
  • American Red Cross CPR Instructor preferred
  • CERT Train the Trainer certification pref
