The Illinois Department of Corrections is seeking a visionary leader to serve as Chief of Parole, responsible for directing statewide parole operations and shaping public safety policy. This executive-level position provides strategic oversight, represents the agency with law enforcement partners, and leads a team focused on community supervision, accountability, and successful reintegration. Essential Functions

• Serves as a principal policy formulator, developing statewide policies and procedures for all phases of Parole.
• Serves as the official spokesperson and representative for the Parole Division binding the Agency to a specific course of action.
• Conducts confidential investigations of Parole Operations, staff, and parolee issues.
• Serves as full-line supervisor.
• Attends community meetings, providing feedback to community leaders and other concerned parties on issues relating to parolees.
• Monitors parole operations to ensure inquiries from any law enforcement agency on issues such as revocation of parole, apprehension of absconders is responded to in a timely matter.
• Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

• Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of college, preferably with courses in law enforcement, criminology, penology, or a related field.
• Requires four (4) years of progressively responsible administrative experience in a law enforcement public or private organization, a correctional facility, or related field.

Conditions of Employment

• Requires ability to travel in the performance of duties, with overnight stays as appropriate. Requires appropriate, valid driver’s license.
• Requires the ability to be on-call.
• Requires use of agency-supplied technology.
• Requires ability to pass the IDOC/IDJJ background check.
• Requires ability to pass a drug screen. The use of unauthorized drugs by an employee, regardless of position held, is prohibited.
• This position has been found to meet the requirements in section 4A-101 of the Illinois Governmental Ethics Act requiring the occupant/employee to file a Statement of Economic Interest. The Illinois Governmental Ethics Act (5 ILCS 420/4A et seq.) requires certain state officials and employees to file annual Statements of Economic Interest with the Office of the Secretary of State that will be made available for examination and copying by the public. All employees required to file a Statement of Economic Interest are also required to file the Supplemental Statement of Economic Interest with the Executive Ethics Commission. (See Execut
