Position:  Maintenance Mechanic

Reports to: Maintenance Supervisor

Shift: Days, Work requires work shifts that may include weekends, afternoon, holidays or graveyards and be available to work call outs to repair equipment.

Pay: $32.53/hour+

What you’ll be contributing:

 

• Promote and follow all plant safety guidelines.
• Under general supervision and according to established policies and procedures, repairs and installs all types of shredding and conveying machinery, equipment, buildings; performs various repairs on belts, bearings, pullies, rollers and related equipment; performs welding to repair broken machinery and other welding-related duties; works from drawings and blueprints to layout and assemble all types of steel construction and repairs; sets-up and operates machine tools for parts used in the plant and performs precision work as needed; operates heavy equipment to perform various duties in the mechanical repair department.
• Performs welding, cutting, pipe fitting, fabrication, lubrication, and related repair as needed for production machinery and equipment including (but not limited to) conveyors, gear boxes, pumps, valves, compressors, and belt conveyor system.
• Installation & alignment of necessary equipment for safe production operation. Where applicable, that could also mean the safe removal of similar equipment.
• Prepares required paperwork regarding repairs completed as assigned.
• Must become familiar with and participate in initial and annual training for the following ISO 14000 requirements.
• Must become familiar with MSHA part 46 safety and training policies.
• Installs, dismantles, repairs, reassembles and aligns machinery, equipment and tools as needed to improve function and operation.
• Solves routine maintenance problems regarding equipment and machinery effectively.
• Performs duties with verbal instructions and/or by reading and interpreting blueprints, charts, and tables.
• Maintains proper records of the parts and materials used in maintenance jobs and job procedures.
• Performs preventative and predictive maintenance activities on equipment as directed.
• Operates cutting torch and plasma cutting in performing welding duties.
• Operates a cutting torch and welder.
• Performs lifting and rigging operations with mobile cranes once proper training has been received.
• Cleans up after each maintenance job is completed.
• Inspects tools for proper operation and stores them in the appropriate manner.
• Additional duties as assigned by supervisor 

 

To succeed in this position, you will need:

 

• High school graduation or equivalent is required, must be 18 years of age or older.
