Role Overview:

The Senior Manufacturing Engineer will utilize advanced, analytical tools and techniques to define, quantify, and improve product and process quality in a machine shop and assembly setting. The Sr ME will be responsible for customer communications and lead the rapid response to customer returns. The focus of this position will be on continual improvement of existing processes and supporting the efforts of the development and process validation of new processes using lean manufacturing practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as engineering leader to junior level associates, utilizing and implementing corporate Factory Floor Quality System (FFQS) and Advance Product Quality Planning (APQP) processes to eliminate errors in all facets of the business utilizing statistical analysis tools (e.g. SPC, Six Sigma, Risk Analysis, PFMEA, Core documents, 8D Process, root-cause analysis, First article, Capability studies, Design of Experiments (DOE), Gauge Repeatability & Reproducibility (R&R), trend analysis, etc.)
  • Lead internal, customer, and outside certification audits (ISO 9001:2015).
  • Analyze quality data and trends to drive continuous improvement efforts and investments; reducing DPM, RMAs, scrap and overall cost.
  • Lead investigations and use root cause analysis methodologies to assess quality issues and come up with corrective actions through our 8D Process.
  • Lead and coordinate actions to rapidly respond to customer returns, RMAs.
  • Manage facility inspection equipment including storage, handling, and calibration.
  • Reviews quality standards, tolerances, and engineering changes.
  • Investigate, establish, and implement requirements for inspection and testing methods, techniques, equipment, and facilities.
  • Lead the site Corrective Action and Preventative Action (CAPA) process.
  • Drive visual management into all aspects of the manufacturing environment
  • Share and standardize best practices and processes.        
  • Develop and administer standard work practices/employee training.
  • Continuously improving operations, efficiency, tooling, and manufacturing equipment.  
  • Primarily responsible for carrying out projects in the following areas:  Machine design/procurement, new product implementations, manufacturing engineering, plant automation, tooling design/implementation, and manufacturing cost estimates. 
  • Evaluate manufacturing processes by designing and conducting research programs; applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials; conferring with equipment vendors; soliciting observations from operators. 
  • Develop routings, standard work, procedures, and illustrations.  
  • Improve manufacturing efficiency using Lean techniques, 5S, standard work, value stream mapping, setup reduction, etc. 
  • Facilitate process improvement and set-up reduction opportunities. 
  • Provide technical guidance to the site and resolve critical site issues. 
  • Facilitate and execute the organization's Lean strategy throughout the organization. 
  • Support design engineering requests and document all engineering changes. 
  • Conceptualize, design, and procure special tooling for specific operations as requested.  
  • Initiate actions to determine root cause analysis and prevent the occurrence of any nonconformance relating to product, process & systems Implement interim processes as required correcting or containing all non-conformances Assist area supervisors/managers in MAR, RGA, & CAR dispositions.  
  • Provide mentoring to new/other Manufacturing Engineers (I & II).  Provides guidance to CNC Prog
