General Notes
This is a START-UP funded position with an end date of 8/31/2026, renewable based upon availability of funding, work performance, and progress toward research goals.

Purpose

This position will provide research assistance/support for the Donegan lab in the Department of Psychiatry at UT Austin. Our research program uses transgenic mouse models and a variety of behavioral and molecular techniques to understand the neural circuit mechanisms underlying psychiatric disorders.


Responsibilities

  • Performing experimental procedures, including but not limited to stereotaxic surgeries, behavioral testing, electrophysiology, tissue collection, and microscopy.

  • Animal colony management, including husbandry and detailed record-keeping.

  • General lab management, including but not limited to maintaining chemical, biohazard inventories, leading lab inspections, ordering and receiving supplies for the laboratory.

  • Other Job Duties may apply as assigned


Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and some research experience in neuroscience or related field. Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. In addition, outstanding organizational and time-management skills are requisite. Expected to work with mice (on-the-job training provided) and should be able to collect and record data with a high degree of accuracy and precision.

Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in neuroscience or related field and at least one year of research experience.

Salary Range
$40,000 + depending on qualifications

  • This position will be assigned on-campus with an expectation to report to work on-site during the scheduled work week.
