Job Description Summary

The Computer and Information Science Department at Penn seeks an experienced investigator in the fields of cryptography and computer security, to lead and collaborate in research projects – with particular emphasis on blockchain, secure multi-party computation, access control, and related topics. The position requires expertise in the design and assessment of new protocols and algorithms, establishing their correctness, and overseeing lab personnel who experimentally validate them. The position also involves preparation of manuscripts, data analysis, and presenting research findings through various forums.

Job Responsibilities

The Senior Research Investigator will oversee new research projects in the areas of cryptography, cybersecurity, and blockchain. The position involves working on projects in blockchain, secure multi-party computation, access control, and related topics that will evolve in response to collaborative opportunities and funding in the cybersecurity area.  Design and assess new protocols and algorithms, establishing their correctness, and overseeing lab personnel who experimentally validate them. Prepare manuscripts, data analysis, and present research findings through various forums.

  • Design new cryptographic, blockchain, and other protocols and algorithms for establishing authenticity, enforcing privacy, and reasoning about correctness or compliance.

  • Oversee lab personnel in performing experimental analysis of new algorithms, protocols, and systems and their efficacy.

  • Review, edit, format, and write manuscripts for publication and of grant proposals.

  • Administer literature reviews.

  • Oversee laboratory operations; assist PI, graduate students, and postdoctoral fellows with experimental procedures and analysis
