ABOUT Hermosa

Hermosa, located approximately 75 miles south-east of Tucson, Arizona, is the only advanced mining project in the United States as of 2023 that could produce two federally designated critical minerals—manganese and zinc—as well as silver and lead. The project has the potential to help power the nation’s clean energy future, strengthen the domestic supply chain of critical minerals, grow the local economy, and improve lives in Santa Cruz County and the surrounding community for generations to come.

ABOUT THE ROLE 

The Lead, Mining - Clark will ensure integration between Clark mining studies and all supporting roles to deliver the Clark study and execution required to achieve full commercial production. This role is located in the Tucson, Arizona office.

 

Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to: 
•    Coordinate with all teams that form part of the Clark mining studies and execution teams required to achieve full commercial production.

•    Contribute to the delivery of a mining study plan and execution thereof that delivers on the South32 safety guarantee. 

•    Lead the development of the Clark study plan for all study phases. 

•    In partnership with the Hermosa technical services team, identify all mining deliverables and resourcing required to achieve quality and timely deliverables. 

•    Track and monitor mining study progress and implement mitigation required to ensure quality and timely deliverables. 

•    Coordinate with all teams that form part of the Clark mining studies and execution teams required to achieve full commercial production. 

•    Primary interface between the Clark study team and the Hermosa technical services team to ensure interface management between mining execution and Clark mine plan objectives 

•    Support and participate in the site contractor management 

•    Assist with the preparation and selection of Sourcing/Tender Strategies for major mining works packages as required  

•    Assist with the compilation of construction documentation for upcoming work packages 

•    Revise and assist in daily, monthly and quarterly mining progress reports to support internal South32 and external government reporting requirements. 

•    Review and provide input to project construction schedules 

•    Interface management with work inputs from South32 Site Services 

•    Interface management with Project execution team to ensure that equipment and material deliveries are coordinated and ensure that Care & Perseveration requirements are correctly implemented and documented 

•    Working with the project execution team identify contractor performance issues and works internal stakeholders to resolve issues 

•    Contribute to Clark mine design and schedule reviews ensuring safety in design and work with the team to optimize the mine plan 

•    Assist with development and execution of Clark mining optimization studies 

•    Prepare technical documents to support permitting and mining study objectives 

•    Serve as an internal technical resource for Clark mining study activities
