About the Job:

We are looking for an experienced Sr. Engineering Manager to join our growing team. In this position, you will lead multi-discipline engineers on one of our engineering teams - responsible for the technologies powering Nerdy’s learning delivery systems, including the Live Learning Platform, the Learning Lab and StarCourses. In addition, you will both inform and grow Nerdy engineering culture, furthering our drive to be the best place on earth to be a technologist. Who You Are:

 

You are an experienced Engineering Manager with a solid technical background. In this position, you will lead multi-discipline engineering teams - driving delivery, performance and quality. In addition, you will both inform and grow Nerdy engineering culture, furthering our drive to be the best place on earth to be a technologist. 

 

You have a passion for excellence and a meticulous eye for detail. 

 

In this position, you will…

• Be responsible for the operation and innovation of the technology platform for our consultative telesales and customer success operations - the first place people come to when getting the learning help they need - through collaboration with product partners, business operations and data science partners. 
• Own delivering reliable and continually improving business results through applying data science and deep analytics to our real-time critical workforce management and telephony workflow management systems.
• Provide direction and oversight on technical architectures and systems design. 
• Manage our engineering staff’s daily feeding and care:  championing objectives, monitoring progress, and removing blockers. 
• Continually improve and optimize your teams’ performance - the humans on your team and the systems they’ve created.  
• Above all, you inspire, mentor and advocate for the engineers entrusted to your care so they can reach their full potential.      

Qualifications: 

 

Required Skills

• Proven track record in Engineering: - 5+ years of successful leadership experience  
• At-scale technical architecture - you’ve designed and built complex yet performant systems. 
• Microservice experience, preferably cloud-hosted
• A strong desire to learn and a passion for educational technology  

 

Nice to have

• AWS Services 
• Agile development (Scrum or Kanban)  
• Test-driven development
