POSITION: Dean/Student Advisor
LOCATION: Delaware School for the Deaf
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must hold or be eligible for State of Delaware certification as Elementary Counselor, School Psychologist or Elementary Teacher
- Three years successful classroom experience preferred
- Fluency in American Sign Language preferred
- Experience supporting students with challenging behaviors preferred
- Must be able to stand and work continuously for a minimum of 4 hours per workday.
- Minimum lifting requirements- 50 pounds (with assistance).
- Must be able to use arms and hands without restrictions to accommodate the physical, mobility, and ambulatory needs of students

Responsibilities:
- Work directly with students, staff and administration in the area of school discipline
- Provide resource services to faculty which are designed to enhance classroom management, student achievement and increase student interest in education

- Work with other members of the Student Support Team to monitor student progress and coordinate supports for students and their families related to academic, behavior, attendance, or related concerns
- Support a classroom environment that fosters embedded communication and social skills
- Coordinate ‘Targeted Team' program; Functional Behavior Analysis
- Work to establish and maintain open lines of communication with students and families concerning their academic and behavioral progress
- Encourage students to behave in accordance with classroom and school rules and district code of conduct
- Collect, monitor, graph and analyze student data
- Keep accurate records and develop reports as required
- Assist in monitoring student attendance
- Coordinate the K-12 bullying prevention program with school counselors
- Responsible for school-wide displays promoting Positive Behavior Support and attend available PBS and Responsive Classroom trainings
- Other duties as assigned
