About the role

Sustainability Specialist(s) (full-time, multiple openings) needed in Houston, TX to manage the certification process and provide design guidance on projects pursuing LEED, WELL Building Standard, Fitwel and/or Net Zero Building Certification. Lead or participate in consulting engagements that provide sustainability strategies for a wide range of world class clients and projects ranging from commercial interiors to ground up buildings and real estate portfolios. Work with clients and design teams to establish sustainable design and project certification goals, employing feasibility analysis or other methods to facilitate goal setting. Design and facilitate work sessions with clients and design teams to build consensus on sustainable design solutions. Coordinate with project design teams to provide sustainable design guidance and technical support and certification process management. Coordinate integration of Revit, IES, daylighting and other technical analysis in projects where needed. Establish and manage project fees, staffing and client invoicing. Ensure quality control and consistency across all projects. Identify and maintain awareness of current and emerging technologies, tools and methods as they impact the delivery of green building design. Track Federal, State, and local regulations and incentives and provide guidance to clients. Ensure sustainable design projects status are integrated into the Gensler Digital Library.

Must have a Master's Degree (or foreign equivalent) in Architecture, Interior Design, or related field, plus two (2) years of design experience with all of the following:

(1) Building systems, project management, and consultant coordination;

(2) LEED and certification project management;

(3) Technical analysis (e.g. energy and daylighting simulation, specification writing, materials selection, cost and life cycle studies);

(4) LEED Online, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, InDesign, Salesforce, and other project management tools such as Smartsheet or Teams Planner;

(5) Revit, OneClick, Rhino;

(6) Built environment including setting goals on carbon and related performance metrics, quantifying performance of design options, and collaborating with design teams to develop effective strategies to improve performance; AND

(7) Design guidance on projects pursuing LEED Certification.

In the alternative, we will accept a Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Architecture, Interior Design, or related field, plus five (5) years of progressive post-bachelor’s degree design experience. Two (2) years of the five (5) years of progressive post-bachelor’s degree design experience must include experience with all of the following:

(1) Building systems, project management, and consultant coordination;

(2) LEED and certification project management;

(3) Technical analysis (e.g. energy and daylighting simulation, specification writing, materials selection, cost and life cycle studies);

(4) LEED Online, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, InDesign, Salesforce, and other project management tools such as Smartsheet or Teams Planner;

(5) Revit, OneClick, Rhino;

(6) Built environment including setting goals on carbon and related performance metrics, quantifying performance of design options, and collaborating with design teams to develop effective strategies to improve performance; AND

(7) Design guidance on projects pursuing LEED Certification.

Must have LEED Accreditation. All experience may be acquired concurrently. Incidental telecommuting may apply.
