Overview
The Revenue Accountant will be responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely recognition of revenue in accordance with the applicable accounting standards (e.g., ASC 606). This position plays a critical role in supporting the month-end close process, preparing reconciliations, and maintaining the integrity of revenue-related accounts. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a solid understanding of accounting principles, particularly related to revenue recognition.
Essential Duties
- Ensure timely and accurate revenue recognition in compliance with ASC 606 and internal company policies.
- Review customer contracts to identify and assess invoicing and revenue recognition schedules.
- Collaborate with Strategy consultants and Marketing and Business Development teams to ensure accurate contract data and billing terms.
- Manage customer invoicing and accounts receivable.
- Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations related to revenue, deferred revenue, and accounts receivable.
- Assist with monthly close activities, including revenue reporting and analysis.
- Support internal and external audits.
- Prepare annual revenue budget and monthly forecast updates through working with the Business Development team and the Corporate Controller.
- Maintain and improve revenue accounting policies, procedures, and controls.
Knowledge, Skills & Attributes
- 2-4 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in revenue or general ledger accounting.
- Strong understanding of US GAAP and revenue accounting recognition standards (ASC 606).
