Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented Permitting and Interconnection Technician with design experience to support our solar energy projects. In this role, you will be responsible for managing permitting and interconnection processes, ensuring compliance with local regulations, and assisting in the design of solar systems. Your work will contribute directly to the successful execution of residential, commercial, and utility-scale solar projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Permitting and Interconnection
- Prepare and submit permit applications to local jurisdictions and regulatory agencies.
- Coordinate with utility companies for interconnection approvals, ensuring compliance with utility requirements.
- Track the status of permit and interconnection applications, resolving issues as they arise.
- Maintain documentation and records related to permits, approvals, and compliance reports.
Design Support
- Assist in creating preliminary and final solar system designs using CAD or design software (e.g., AutoCAD, PVsyst, Helioscope).
- Conduct feasibility assessments, including site analysis, shading studies, and layout optimization.
- Support engineering teams in preparing electrical single-line diagrams (SLDs) and other technical drawings.
- Review design documents for accuracy and compliance with codes and standards.
- Collaboration and Communication
- Liaise with project managers, engineers, and external stakeholders to ensure smooth project workflows.
- Provide technical support during inspections and utility reviews.
- Stay up to date on permitting, interconnection, and industry regulations.
Requirements
- Education: Associate's degree in engineering, renewable energy, or a related field. Bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent work experience
- Minimum 2 years of experience in permitting, interconnection, or solar design.
- Proficiency in solar design software and tools (e.g., AutoCAD, PVsyst, or Helioscope).
- Familiarity with permitting and interconnection processes in the solar industry
- Strong understanding of electrical and structural design principles.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Effective communication and problem-solving skills.
- Certifications: NABCEP certification is a plus but not required.
