GT - Operations Team Leader, Coolkeeragh

Position Description

 

Coolkeeragh Power Station comprises CCGT and OCGT plants in the Maydown, N.Ireland. Coolkeeragh Power Station is managed, maintained and operated to strict efficiency and availability standards in a competitive commercial market. Coolkeeragh Power Station operates under the Generation and Trading division of ESB, operating and maintaining power stations across Europe.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Shift Operations Team Leader will be a team player and self-starter with the ability to multi-task, meet deadlines and manage, develop and motivate team members. Have a demonstrable ability to communicate and relate effectively with staff at all levels in the organisation. 

 

 

Key Responsibilities

 

The Operations Team Leader  is responsible for the safe, efficient and reliable operation of the generation and associated auxiliary plant and for achieving the commercial Targets of the power plant.

 

• Start up, shut-down and operation of Power Stations in accordance with relevant legislation, site procedures and best practice standards.
• As Safety from the System Co-ordinator (SSC) they will manage, administrate and ensure compliance with the Station Safety Rules.
• Develop and implement procedures and systems for plant operations, testing and related activities.
• Compliance with safety and environmental obligations.
• Participation on business improvement projects as required
• Supporting the shift operations team in their day-to-day activities, assessing training needs and managing individual performance plans.
• Ensuring the safe and efficient operation of all plant at site
• Ensuring the safety of all personnel under his/her control
• Maintaining a shift operations record (log) and submitting operations reports as directed by the Operations Manager.
• Oversee and carry out initial front line maintenance.
• Attending and contributing to scheduled meetings.
• Train and develop staff.
• Liaise with other departments as required or directed.
• Outage and Project Management as required

 

 

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

 

Essential

• Experience of Power Stations operations or similar heavy process engineering
• 3 years’ experience in a modern power station, preferably in Operations.
• Experience in power plant operations, maintenance, technology, systems and procedures.
• Demonstrated ability in leading a customer focused team.
• Ability to organise and prioritise work.
• Good IT skills

 

Desirable

• Preferably will have supervisory experience.
• Experience in project management and/or good planning skills

 

 

Qualifications

 

Essential

• A recognised 3rd level qualification Engineering Degree or a suitable qualification combined with extensive power station experience.
