Senior News Editor, Weekends

Insider is looking for a Senior Weekend News Editor who has impeccable news judgment, and is obsessed with breaking news to lead the News division’s weekend team. The ideal candidate has a knack for telling stories across a myriad of topics in a relatable and compelling way, and experience managing a team of editors and reporters.   This is a full-time position on a Friday to Tuesday schedule, and can be based anywhere in the US. This editor will work alongside Weekend Editors from the Business and Life divisions, and manage a team of reporters and editors who work weekend shifts. These reporters will file breaking news, as well as news analysis, visual stories, and features. This editor should be comfortable regularly handling this mixture of story edits and juggling multiple responsibilities at one time.   This editor also pays attention to what readers are loving, and understands how to frame stories to get millions of people to read them. The ideal breaking news editor will:

• Show excellent news judgment
• Have the ability to edit quickly and accurately, and write if necessary
• Assign and edit a mix of articles, including short news posts, visual features, and reported pieces
• Have experience covering a news and managing a team
• Be very organized and able to effectively communicate across teams
• Be comfortable managing up and regularly sharing forward planning and analyses on what’s working

Salary & Benefits:

• Salary: $110,000. - $140,000. (dependent on skills, experience, and competencies)

Salary for the role is commensurate with experience and depends on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience.US Remote $110,000—$140,000 USD
