The Digital Client Experience & Platforms team drives and defines the client and advisor experience at Morgan Stanley. As a key part of the Digital team, the Individual Retirement Product Owner will partner across the organization to facilitate change for our Individual Retirement products and platforms, including analysis, design and execution on risk-related/regulatory or client-experience enhancement initiatives.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Act as a subject matter expert for Individual Retirement and engage with partners across the organization to articulate the retirement product vision and build consensus around retirement projects.
  • Perform feasibility analysis on potential projects including data analysis, business case assessment and development of alternate approaches.
  • Act as product owner for an agile squad responsible for definition and delivery of retirement initiatives to meet risk/regulatory and/or client needs through product or platform change initiatives.
  • Create business requirements as user stories/epics for agile sprints; Lead sprint planning ceremonies to communicate requirements and drive consensus with squad and program stakeholders
  • Coordinate with Legal, Risk and Compliance control partners to assess risk and regulatory impacts and develop solutions that align the business with risk/compliance objectives.
  • Gather and organize feedback to identify and prioritize product gaps, enhancements and new features.
  • Develop project plans and work with other product support staff on risk-mitigation and remediation initiatives.
  • Advocate for Individual Retirement by building relationships with Product Owners of applications that impact retirement accounts.
  • Produce materials and present to leadership and/or other stakeholders, as needed, to communicate on project timelines and progress.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required
  • A minimum of 5+ years of experience in the financial services industry, project management and/or product management
  • In-depth knowledge of retirement products, including Traditional IRA, Roth IRA, SEP IRA, SIMPLE IRA, Inherited IRA and qualified plans (such as 401(k), Profit Sharing, Defined Benefit, etc.)
  • Understanding of the financial services industry, including wealth management operations and branch office processes
  • Familiarity with current regulatory environment relating to retirement accounts
  • Experience and knowledge of Agile methodologies and practices
  • Strong sense of ownership and accountability
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with ability to tailor messages to different audiences; must effectively communicate in both business and technical contexts
  • Ability to manage competing priorities under strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills – freely develops networks, builds consensus and prioritizes effectively
  • Excellent analytical, process-oriented, problem-solving and issue-resolution skills
  • Series 7 and Series 24 license preferred but not required
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Familiarity with JIRA, MS Teams, Tableau
