PRIMARY FUNCTION: Responsible for implementing specialty recreational and or educational programs for youth ages 6-18.
KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities):
- Develops program lesson plans and prepares for program activities.
- Delivers age-appropriate programs and activities to club members.
- Tracks participant attendance.
- Encourages youth to participate in programs and activities.
- Maintains safe and respectful behavior of members.
- Ensures the proper use of equipment in program areas.
- Reports and records any incidents that occur with members.
- Provides statistical data and narrative evaluation of the program to the Program Director or Club Director
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university or a combination of education/experience
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- 3+ year experience in Fine Arts, Performance Arts, Science-Technology-Engineering-Math (STEM), Digital Arts, and Communication and Media.
- Experience working with youth in educational, recreational, or community-based settings
- Background in Folklórico or cultural dance, with ability to teach choreography and cultural context
- Strong communication and classroom management skills
- Ability to create a welcoming, inclusive, and culturally affirming environment for diverse youth participants
- Experience working with youth ages 6-18 in a recreational or educational environment with focus on specific content areas or trades, such as performance arts, digital media, science, etc.
- Good verbal and written communication skills required
- Familiarity with Microsoft office suite
- Demonstrate expertise in any of the following areas: Fine Arts, Performance Arts, Science-Technology-Engineering-Math (STEM), Digital Arts, and Communication and Media.
- Bilingual English/Spanish skills a plus.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Ability to continuously stand, walk or sit. Ability to function for more than two hours on your feet. Ability to bend, squat, climb stairs and lift frequently. Will be working in a Club environment with children. Ability to be outdoors during all seasons occasionally. Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
