POSITION SUMMARY
The Digital Transformation (DX) group at Sony Corporation of America (SCA) is in search of an exceptional Design Manager with a fervor for interaction design and English copywriting. This role presents a unique opportunity to lead the design integration of our flagship Sony account across a diverse array of Sony Group Companies and Services worldwide. You will also have an opportunity to work on other Sony-wide platform products (payment, data, marketing, etc), to contribute to advancing our corporate DX initiatives. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Product Managers, Engineers, and specialists in Security, Privacy, and Customer Service, to shape the future of Sony's digital experiences.
You will be based at our office in San Diego, Los Angeles, or San Mateo with the flexibility to work remotely or in-person. As part of our team policy, we encourage at least one day per week in the office to foster collaboration and innovation, though this may evolve over time.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Interaction Design: Create and refine high-level concepts and detailed interaction designs and flows for Sony account and other platform products that deliver exceptional user experiences. Communicate and collaborate with product managers and engineers to deliver those designs to market.
Copywriting: Create English copywriting for designs and collaborate closely with the translation team to ensure the seamless implementation of multi-language experiences.
Design Documentation: Develop and maintain essential design documents, including wireframes, visual design mock-ups, design guidelines, and any other materials necessary for communication with both internal and external stakeholders.
Market Insights: Dive into market research and analysis to unearth new insights that will inform your design decisions and strategies.
User-Centric Innovation: Execute user research initiatives to explore fresh ideas and ensure that user perspectives are central to the design process.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR POSITION
Education: A bachelor’s degree is required, master’s degree preferred
Experience: You should have a minimum of 7-10 1-3 years of extensive experience in interaction design, demonstrating your proficiency in designing for various platforms, including mobile apps, web browsers, and different types of devices
Global Collaboration: Proven experience in effectively managing design relationships and deliverables with partners and stakeholders on a global scale is essential
Technical Skills: Proficiency in Figma and collaboration tools like Microsoft 365 or Google Docs. Experience in designing for the web. Designing for mobile devices and prototyping skills are a plus.
Organization Skills: Comfortable bringing clarity to ambiguous situations. Strong self-starter who is detailed, organized and who seeks to optimize their process.
Flexible Schedule (Working hours): You will be expected to have flexibility in working hours to accommodate team members in various time zones, including participation in early or late meetings as needed, including international travels.
Preferred:
Web Development Skills: While not mandatory, proficiency in website development using HTML is highly preferred.
Global Team Collaboration: Having experience collaborating with global teams across different time zones, particularly in Asia and Europe, with a focus on Japan and the UK, is preferred.
Agile Environment: Experience in delivering products and designs within an agile working environment is considered a strong advantage.
The anticipated annual base salary for this position based on location is as follows: Los Angels, CA: $120,000-130,000, San Diego, CA: $110,000-120,000. This range does not include any other compensation components or other benefits that an individual may be eligible for.
