Job Summary
The Cybersecurity Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing the day-to-day operations of the security operations center (SOC) and leading a contract team of incident responders. The primary focus is on maintaining a robust incident response capability, integrating legacy and cloud environments into monitoring systems, and supporting governance and audit functions through the provision of detailed artifacts. Collaboration with the security engineering team is essential to deploy effective security solutions.
Job Responsibilities
- Incident Response Leadership:
- Lead and manage a contract team of incident responders, ensuring timely and effective response to security incidents.
- Develop and maintain incident response plans and procedures, ensuring they align with industry best practices and are regularly tested and updated.
- Security Operations Center Management:
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the SOC, ensuring 24/7 monitoring and response capabilities.
- Collaborate with team members to identify, investigate, and resolve security incidents in a timely manner.
- Implement and maintain security tools and technologies for monitoring, detection, and response.
- Integration of Legacy and Cloud Environments:
- Work closely with IT and cloud teams to integrate legacy and cloud environments into the SOC monitoring systems.
- Develop strategies to address unique security challenges in both legacy and cloud environments.
- Governance and Audit Support:
- Provide detailed artifacts and evidence to support governance and audit functions.
- Collaborate with internal and external auditors to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
- Continuously improve processes to enhance the effectiveness of governance and audit support.
- Collaboration with Security Engineering:
- Work closely with the security engineering team to understand the security architecture and deploy effective security solutions.
- Provide feedback on the feasibility and operational implications of proposed security enhancements.
- Collaborate on the implementation of security measures to protect against emerging threats.
- Reporting and Documentation:
- Generate regular reports on security operations metrics, incident response effectiveness, and key performance indicators.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of incident response activities, security procedures, and configurations.
- Training and Development:
- Provide training and guidance to the incident response team to enhance their skills and capabilities.
- Stay informed about the latest security trends, threats, and technologies, and share this knowledge with the team.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's Degree RequiredEducation Specifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred.
Experience Requirements
- Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of related experience.
- Proven experience in a leadership role within a security operations environment.
