Job Description:
POSITION OBJECTIVES
This is responsible specialized work in the receipt of assigned types of commodities and storage and issuing of same items. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Warehouse Supervisor.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Periodically assists in taking physical count of stock on hand and verifying the count with the inventory control details.
• Reviews material requests with department representatives on specifications, quantity, quality and delivery requirements of merchandise.
• Coordinates with Public Works & Utilities Business Manager regarding condition of goods and errors in shipment, prices and extensions.
• Advises Stores Supervisor and Purchasing Assistant/Buyer of any low stock items or unusual usages of supplies.
• Coordinates with finance the issuance and return of hydrant meters.
• Performs clerical functions such as filing, answering telephone, taking messages, inventory functions and other support activities, as required.
• Reviews purchase orders to ascertain items are received, stocked and/or delivered and receipted prior to recommending payment.
• Maintains current specifications on all stock items.
• Attend work promptly and regularly.
• Perform related work as required. These additional duties may be representative of tasks typically performed by those in a lesser or more advanced job grade.
This position is part of the City’s Emergency Management Team and, as such, shall be expected to perform all duties that are assigned during an emergency management operation.
Education and Experience
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
• One (1) year of related experience and/or training in receiving, storing and issuing a wide variety of stores items and keeping inventory records
• Equivalent combination of education and experience.
Certifications, Licenses, and Registrations
- Valid Florida Driver’s License
- Forklift certification preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Knowledge of store keeping methods and procedures, and of records used in the receipt, storage and issuance of diversified goods.
• Knowledge of the various kinds and grades of supplies, materials and equipment applicable to the area of assignment.
• Knowledge of purchasing and requisition procedures.
• Knowledge of materials used in the construction and maintenance of water, wastewater, reclaimed water and storm water systems, and grounds and facilities maintenance.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence.
• Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, vendors, clients, and other employees of the organization.
• Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts interest, commissions proportions, percentages, area, and volume.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
• Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in standardized situations.
• Ability to determine the quantity and quality of goods received in relation to prescribed specifications.
• Ability to operate general office equipment and PC.
• Ability to operate a forklift and hydraulic pallet jack.
• Ability to maintain inventory and stores records.
• Ability to perform mechanical work on water meters & assembly of backflows.
