About the role

Detailed Description

  • Perform inspections of incoming raw materials, in-process components, first articles, and finished products to verify compliance with engineering drawings and quality specifications. 
  • Conduct final inspections of completed products prior to shipment. 
  • Utilize precision measuring equipment including micrometers, calipers, height gauges, thread gauges, pin gauges, and digital/optical inspection equipment. 
  • Verify and maintain calibration status of all inspection equipment used. 
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, GD&T, and internal quality procedures to determine product acceptance criteria. 
  • Accurately document inspection results and maintain quality records in accordance with company procedures. 
  • Ensure complete traceability of parts, materials, and supporting documentation throughout the manufacturing process. 
  • Create and process Nonconformance Reports (NCRs) while ensuring proper identification and segregation of nonconforming material. 
  • Perform both dimensional and visual inspections with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. 
  • Review shop travelers and manufacturing documentation for completeness and compliance before advancing products to the next operation. 
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe inspection area. 
  • Support production requirements by adapting to changing priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. 

Job Requirements (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)

  • Strong understanding of quality inspection principles and manufacturing processes. 
  • Ability to accurately perform dimensional and visual inspections using a variety of precision measuring instruments. 
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, specifications, and GD&T. 
  • Knowledge of quality documentation, inspection procedures, shop travelers, raw material certifications, and Certificates of Conformance (COCs). 
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities. 
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to product quality. 
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications. 
  • Ability to prioritize work and perform independently with minimal supervision. 
  • Ability to work effectively in a dynamic manufacturing environment with changing priorities. 
  • Good visual acuity and manual dexterity required for precision inspection activities. 
  • Experience operating overhead cranes or similar lifting equipment. 
  • Knowledge of API quality requirements is preferred. 

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required. 
  • Minimum of two (2) years of quality inspection experience in a manufacturing or machining environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • Experience performing dimensional inspections using precision measuring equipment. 
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T. 
  • Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office. 
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English. 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience inspecting oilfield manufacturing products. 
  • Knowledge of API specifications and quality requirements. 
  • Experience working in a machine shop or precision manufacturing environment. 
  • Prior experience operating overhead cranes. 

Additional Details

This position is based in a manufacturing environment and requires standing, walking, and sitting for extended periods throughout the workday. The employee must possess good visual acuity and hand dexterity for precision measurements and will be required to successfully complete an annual visual acuity examination, with or without corrective lenses. The position requires the ability to safely lift up to 50 pounds and operate lifting equipment such as overhead cranes while following all applicable safety procedures.
