Certified Nursing Assistant Position Summary

Under the direction of the Nurse, performs sub-professional duties including providing patient care to meet the needs of activities of daily living; operation and maintenance of equipment. Assumes the responsibility for meeting the basic needs of all patients assigned. Provides care to a patient population ranging from infant to geriatric, unless otherwise indicated.

• Takes and records vital signs and I/Os. 
• Assists licensed staff and physicians as directed within approved standards. 
• Performs other related duties as directed. 
• Works collaboratively with the health care team, is customer focused and strives to meet unit and hospital goals. 
• Provides quality care according to established practice standards and guidelines for the area(s) assigned. 
• Performs and coordinates the clerical and public relations functions for the unit, as well as coordinating patient services and tests provided by the other ancillary hospital departments; acts as unit receptionist receiving and directing visitors. 
• Assumes the responsibility for correctly transcribing orders on all patients assigned.

Must be willing/able to float to other (comparable) nursing units, as requested/needed. 

Positions available for Nights and Evening shifts within departments across the facility.

THE CNA CANDIDATE WILL POSSESS THE FOLLOWING EDUCATION, LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS, AND EXPERIENCE.

Minimum Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.

Minimum Experience: Minimum of six months of work experience preferred.

Required Certifications/Registrations/Licenses:  CNA (Must obtain South Carolina CNA within 6 months of hire date), and/or completion of Nursing Fundamentals from an accredited Nursing Curriculum with the intention to complete a nursing degree required. American Heart Association BLS CPR certification required.

Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Works under immediate supervision. Typically reports to a registered nurse or supervisor.

Education:

Required: High school diploma or GED.

Experience:

Required: 3 years of experience in a medical setting. Familiarity with medical terminology and laboratory data.

Preferred: 5 years of experience as a nursing assistant or clerical staff in a medical environment.

Certifications:

Required: AHA BLS.
