The purpose of this job is to perform analysis of in process large molecule samples within the Technical Services/Manufacturing Sciences laboratory, and produce accurate results within an acceptable timeframe.

Job Description

• Provide analytical testing across a range of techniques including HPLC (HPAC, SEC, IEC, RPLC, NPLC, and HILIC), ELISA, Capillary electrophoresis (CE-SDS, CZE, CE-LIF) and UV/VIS spectrophotometry, to support TS/MS as part of the team.
• Provide analytical support in troubleshooting.
• Maintenance of minimum stock levels including ordering of laboratory materials/reagents and associated inventory logs.
• Demonstrate problem solving in delivering process and analytical understanding.
• Ability to quickly learn new processes.
• Ability to communicate clearly and to form strong working relationships with colleagues.
• Ability to work on own initiative and be capable of developing solutions to problems as part of a team.
• Willing to operate in a flexible manner and be able to switch priorities at short notice.
• Good team player, organised, accurate, have strong documentation skills.
• To participate in the preparation of reports.
• To document data as dictated by current client policies and procedures.
• Ensure that the customer gets the best possible service by continually reviewing best practice in relation to both commercial and quality issues and ensuring 100% ethical work standards and GMP compliance in a Technical Services lab.
• To learn and be aware of the customer’s requirements and strive to meet or exceed those requirements keeping in mind the customer process end points.
• To perform other QC samples in accordance with customer procedures.
• To revise SOPs as required by the Group Leader or client representative.
• To keep the laboratory area clean and tidy in both ‘seen’ and ‘unseen’ areas.
• To ensure that all documentation is carried out on time, is accurate and legible and conforms to the relevant quality standards.
• To keep their training records up to date and participate in and initiate training as required by the customer or directed by the Group Leader.
• To update any relevant documentation when requested.
• To adhere to all customer standards in the areas of safety, housekeeping and quality, notifying management of any discrepancies.
• To have a clear understanding of the customer relationship and service goals.
• To ensure that all decisions are handled with customer service in mind.
• To ensure uniformity, reproducibility and reliability in all work practices.
• Once foundational knowledge is in place start to identify any opportunities for improvement of quality and service, and work with the team to implement continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• An honours degree in Analytical Chemistry or a related discipline is required.
• A sound, fundamental knowledge of Analytical Chemistry is essential.
• 1-3 years’ relevant experience of pharmaceutical analysis, preferably in a development laboratory within a group organization.
