Midwest Express Clinic is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join our growing Finance team. Reporting directly to the CFO, this role leads month-end close activities, prepares accurate financial reporting, and supports budgeting and forecasting while ensuring compliance with GAAP and healthcare accounting standards. The ideal candidate partners closely with Finance, Payroll, Revenue Cycle, Clinical Operations, HR, and Executive Leadership to provide financial insights that support strategic decision-making.What You’ll Own
Financial Reporting & General Ledger
- Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Manage general ledger accounting, including journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and account analyses
- Lead assigned portions of the month-end and year-end close process while meeting established deadlines
- Research and resolve account discrepancies and unusual financial variances
- Prepare supporting schedules and workpapers for financial reporting
- Analyze financial performance and identify trends, risks, and opportunities
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes
- Prepare financial analyses and reports for senior leadership
- Monitor key balance sheet and income statement accounts
- Support special projects and ad hoc financial analyses
- Partner with Revenue Cycle, Billing, and Clinical Operations to ensure accurate recording of healthcare revenue
- Analyze patient revenue, collections, reimbursements, and related financial activity
- Support reconciliation of insurance reimbursements and revenue recognition processes
- Maintain fixed asset schedules and depreciation records
- Assist with bi-weekly payroll review, reconciliations, and financial analysis
- Monitor payroll-related general ledger activity
- Support accounts payable and accounts receivable processes as needed
- Collaborate cross-functionally to improve financial workflows and internal controls
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal accounting policies, and regulatory requirements
