Senior Support Engineer

As a Senior Support Engineer specializing in SQL and C#/.net within FTSE Engineering, you will lead and supervise day to day activities surrounding production support of critical systems. You will be experienced in diagnosing, troubleshooting, and resolving complex technical issues that escalate beyond first and second-line support, ensuring the stability and reliability of our production systems.

Our team collaborates with other technology teams and business users to deeply understand the complex user journeys, workflows, and data interactions involved in the Index business lifecycle

This role reports to the FTSE Engineering – 3rd Line Support Manager. We are looking for an enthusiastic and passionate software engineer who is adept in advanced, long-term fixes for database applications across multiple databases (SQL Server, Sybase, PostgreSQL).

Responsibilities:

• Close collaboration with both internal and external index business collaborators, including Full Stack Developers, Product Owners, Business Analysts, and technology teams.
• We also will also work directly with users and technical teams to handle, diagnose, and resolve technical issues within our key Index Platforms, which adopt cutting-edge technologies and AWS cloud-native architecture.

Role Requirements:

• Extensive experience providing 3rd line support, including diagnosing, troubleshooting, and resolving complex technical issues related to database systems and integrations, ensuring high availability and performance.
• 8+ years of strong experience in database application support across multiple databases.
• Prior experience working in data-intensive applications, demonstrating a capacity to lead, analyse, and optimize large datasets and complex database structures.
• Proven experience in debugging advanced SQL queries, stored procedures, triggers, scripts, cursors, and views, with a focus on SQL code tuning, consolidating views, and tracking database performance metrics.
• Good experience in C#.NET
• Familiarity with PostgreSQL Aurora, queues, elastic search, indicating a broad understanding of database technologies and the ability to leverage these tools for improved data processing and search capabilities.
