The Director / Sr. Director of Facilities and Engineering is a key leadership role responsible for the strategic planning, development, and management of all physical facilities, infrastructure, and capital projects for EyePoint. This individual will ensure a safe, efficient, and compliant environment that supports the company's research, development, manufacturing, and administrative operations within the highly regulated pharmaceutical industry. The (Sr) Director of Facilities and Engineering will lead a team of facilities professionals and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including Process Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, EHS (Environmental Health and Safety), and IT, to ensure operational excellence and business continuity.
This position is located at our Northbridge, MA facility reporting to the Chief Manufacturing Officer. This person must be willing to travel to our HQ in Watertown, MA once a week.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Individual responsibilities
- Strategic Planning and Development: Develop and implement a long-term facilities strategy aligned with the company's business objectives, including space planning, capital projects, infrastructure upgrades, and sustainability initiatives.
- Operational Management: Oversee the day-to-day operations of all facilities, including maintenance, utilities, security, janitorial services, and groundskeeping, ensuring efficient and reliable performance.
- Compliance and Regulatory Affairs: Ensure all facilities and operations adhere to relevant FDA, environmental, and other applicable industry standards and legal requirements. Support quality processes and systems across the facility for change control, CAPA, deviations, investigations, data integrity, product quality complaints, and Annual Product Quality Review (APQR).
- Budget Management: Develop and manage the annual facilities budget, including operating expenses and capital expenditures, ensuring cost-effectiveness and efficient resource allocation.
- Capital Project Management: Lead the planning, budgeting, execution, and close-out of capital projects related to facility expansions, renovations, and equipment installations, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. Ensure all GMP projects are properly qualified prior to turnover to operations.
- Team Leadership and Development: Recruit, train, mentor, and manage a high-performing team of facilities professionals, fostering a collaborative and results-oriented work environment.
- Vendor Management: Manage relationships with external vendors and contractors providing facilities-related services, ensuring quality, cost-effectiveness, and compliance with service level agreements.
- Environmental Health and Safety (EHS): Lead the EHS function and ensure all facilities and operations comply with safety protocols, environmental regulations, and sustainability goals.
- Emergency Preparedness and Business Continuity: Develop and implement emergency response plans and business continuity strategies to minimize disruptions to operations.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Effectively communicate and collaborate with internal stakeholders across various departments to understand their needs and provide proactive facilities support. Build teams where employees have a shared purpose and vision. Lead cross functional teams to implement capital projects and facility upgrades.
- Technology and Innovation: Evaluate and implement new technologies and best practices to improve facilities efficiency, sustainability, and cost-effectiveness.
