What will you be doing?
Argus is looking for an experienced, enthusiastic and analytical candidate to join its US-based agriculture team. This role will focus on providing market reporting on the North American grains and oilseeds (primarily wheat, corn, soy) markets, and may include coverage of both conventional and organic markets.
The successful candidate will contribute to Argus AgriMarkets services and publications as part of a team of talented reporters and analysts in the US and overseas. Responsibilities will also include collaboration with Data and Production teams, business development, sales and marketing, consulting, conferences.
The Senior Reporter will build and engage with their network of contacts, generate content for the publications, drive market coverage, analyses, and datasets in the US grains and oilseeds markets. The Reporter will support the development of the North American coverage, in collaboration with the US-based Agriculture editor and senior editorial managers, and will help ensure that the Argus report and methodology are kept up to date and continually enhanced. The Reporter may provide cover on the North American organic agriculture markets, as needed.
The Analyst will ensure appropriate implementation of new processes and will closely collaborate with other corporate functions as needed.
What we’re looking for in you[MS1]:
- Build and maintain a personal-professional network of relevant industry contacts
- Communicate with market participants via phone, email or other communication platforms to collect market data (prices, supply, demand, market conditions, etc.) as well as other subjective market observations and insights from industry contacts
- Develop thorough knowledge of market shaping factors, and key industry stakeholders
- Analyze raw industry data and other forms of market news to remain on-top of developing issues within U.S. commodity markets, and produce written tight-copy and detailed long-form market reporting
- Present agriculture commodities market data and insights to industry stakeholder
- Communicate information collected from industry contacts to other editorial and research staff
- Identify and communicate changes in market reporting and contacts’ information needs
- Identify and communicate on wider commercial opportunities for the business
What we’re looking for in you:
- Strong experience with Microsoft Office Suite with experience in Excel
- Desire to build personal-professional network of key industry contacts
- Ability to engage in in-depth, one-on-one conversations with industry stakeholders
- Very strong written and oral communication skills (phone, email, text, formal reports)
- Excellent independent time-management, with the ability to simultaneously manage multiple tasks and projects with tight deadlines
