About This Role
As the Associate Director, Patient Access & Affordability, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the patient access landscape for Biogen within the Market Access & Reimbursement team. You will be responsible for developing and executing copay strategies across all therapeutic areas while serving as the primary point person for the Neurology and Neuropsychology teams for patient access and affordability program strategies. Your strategic insights and leadership will be instrumental in ensuring that our innovative therapies reach patients in need.
What You’ll Do
Copay Strategy Leadership:
• Lead all copay maximizer and accumulator mitigation strategies, aligning to Patient Access Operations for pull-through.
• Analyze market dynamics and competitor strategies to inform copay strategy decisions.
• Partner with Market Access and marketing partners to align program strategy to brand strategic directives.
• Develop, implement, and optimize copay assistance programs to minimize financial barriers for patients.
• Responsible for creating and maintaining program policy documents and business rules.
• Utilize data-driven insights to assess the impact of copay strategies and make data-informed recommendations for optimization.
• Monitor access trends, patient feedback, and market changes to adapt strategies as needed.
• Partner with Consumer Marketing Teams to align program marketing messages and strategies.
Rare Disease Focus:
• Act as the dedicated Patient Access liaison for the Neurology & Neuropsychiatry Marketing teams, ensuring that access challenges unique to our products are addressed effectively for our products supporting MS and Depression.
• Partner closely with the Patient Access Free Drug & Reimbursement lead, along with the Patient Access Operations lead to pull forward best practices across programs, tailored to the individual needs of each TA.
• Identify and prioritize patient access initiatives for rare disease therapies.
Stakeholder Engagement:
• Collaborate within Market access and cross-functionally with Patient Services, Marketing, and Finance teams to align copay strategies with business objectives
• Work closely with external partners to enhance patient access solutions and identify leading market solutions
• Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including Patient Advocacy, Government Affairs, Legal, Compliance, and Regulatory
Compliance and Regulatory:
• Ensure all copay strategies adhere to industry regulations and compliance standards
• Collaborate with legal, compliance, and regulatory teams to maintain compliance in patient access initiatives

Qualifications
- 7+ years’ experience in patient access strategy within the pharmaceutical industry
- Bachelor's degree required, master’s degree preferred
- Strong understanding of copay strategy development and implementation
- Experience in rare disease patient access preferred
- Excellent analytical, strategic, and communication skills
- Ability to work cross-functionally and lead teams effectively
- In-depth knowledge of healthcare reimbursement and access landscape
- Familiarity with pharmaceutical industry regulations and compliance
