The purpose of the Board of Technical Registration is to protect the public by setting appropriate registration qualifications and enforcing state statutes relating to the practice of all Board-regulated professions and occupations.

This position will remain open until filled

Job Summary:

This position serves in the agency's licensing unit, as a point of contact for new applicants seeking registration with the Board.

The application process for administratively complete applications for exams and registration for the following industries: Architect, Engineer, Land Surveyor, Landscape Architect, Geologist, and their respective firm registrations.

Also, Home Inspector, Alarm Business, Alarm Agent, Alarm Controlling Person as well as three "in-training" designations.

The need to process all applications accurately and within required timeframes is essential to overall agency functionality.

This position must be able to accurately communicate and assist individuals seeking Board registration.

Job Duties:

• Processing applications for exam authorization and for registration. Processing received documentation, verifying validity of such, updating online systems, determining if the application is administratively complete to be granted and/or the need to issue deficiency notices

• Assisting in the administration/proctoring of the state-specific geological and land surveyor exams. Processing licensing verification requests, possibly conducting background checks, processing license renewals, firm registrations and covering the front desk when workload and/or staffing situations arise

• Clear and concise communication both written and verbal with applicants, evaluators, and representatives from various national councils regarding council records and application/registration status

• Various clerical duties including electronic filing, copying documents, uploading/scanning documents, faxing, possible user acceptance testing of online platforms

• Any other projects as assigned by the Licensing Manager, Deputy or Executive Director

• Other duties as assigned as related to the position

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

Knowledge:

• State licensing processes; knowledge of Board statutes and rules relating to application/registrations

• Knowledge of computer programs (Google, Microsoft, online licensing platform, and others)

Skills:

• Skill in data entry accuracy; good interpersonal and communication skills

• Good organizational and time management skills

Ability:

• Plan and organize daily work; effective written and verbal communication

• Follow general rules, and agency policies and procedures

• Ability to perform work of moderate analytical skill

• Ability to handle difficult people

Selective Preference(s):

• Two years of responsible administrative experience or an Associates Degree in a related field

• Willingness to answer various questions from the public in a calm, knowledgeable, respectful way

Driving Requirements:

• Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records and must complete any required driver training (see Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.12.)

• Requires possession of and ability to retain a current, valid state-issued driver’s license appropriate to the assignment
